![]() I expend less than 4 hours since I have the idea to combine all this, to be actually capturing motion on 3DS max. Xppader, TrackerCam (if you need it), Free-Track, PPjoy, IR LEDs, Over Exposed negative film.Īll turns around making possible to connect all different stuff together.Īll of it need many calibrations but is not so difficult, It will recreate all motions captured with the device.Īs soon as it will be complete i will share a download link if you want. this script will create a dummy in the scene. Xpadder only works on Windows, however I'm not sure if it would work on Ubuntu too, I'm using a XBOX360 Wireless Controller with Xpadder on Windows. The standard joystick input finally can be used with Xppader to control the application, or as a motion capture device inside 3DS max.Īlso free track include OCX libraries, I'm working on an application using this libraries to automaticaly generate a MAXscript. Xpadder allows to control the mouse cursor by using a joystick, gamepad, etc. PPjoy will translate your free track input to a standard joystick input. So the free-track software will generate a 6 dof input.Ī video showing the software working YOUTUBE]()īut it is not a joystick input, you need PPjoy, its installer is included in the Free track folder. (it block the most of visible light, other way it only works in very dark room) Putting an overexposed 35mm film negative in the front of the camera lens, the only visible are the IR LEDs points. I made my own with 3 cheap IR LED from the electronics store. as you will see in their page this software allow you to capture a 6 DOF information in real time using a cap with lights. Then the important part of the story, download the () This is the tool that makes the magic. So if you are using a camcorder you will need ()it will translate the camcorder input to a webcam input. any webcam can be used, but a DV camcorder is better. It is basically a bunch of software tools together.įirst at all, if you are just interested in use a joystick as input yo can use ()It is a software designed to translate the joystick/Gamepad input to Keyboard/Mouse.īut if you are ready to go beyond, you can create your own input device.įirst you need a camera. That would probably be easiest if you didn't want to take your hands off the controller. If you want to have a deeper interaction with your 3D work I can tell you my Formula. Anyone else experiencing this? EDIT: I also thought, you could probably just set WASD to the D-pad on the second selector. Best I can do is to just use the WASD keys for picking if need be. But I'm not sure if that's Xpadder's fault since we're not even using the sticks with Xpadder. Like Adrian, lockpicking seems to be messed up. It's not perfect, but it works for the most part. ![]() You won't get any "phantom" presses if you always use the stick to zoom out (instead of drawing your gun or whatever). The third picture shows my best attempt to work around zooming in and out, while still being able to press against the wall. Just be sure to select Selector 1 after setting up 2, other wise your buttons won't work. I've also added quicksave to start (while holding LT) and quickload to the back button (while holding LT). You can also press A or Y on the controller while holding LT to let you cycle through the areas of the map while rotating and zooming with the analog sticks. You can still fire while holding your breath and put away your gun straight from holding your breath. Selector 2 covers most of the other needs. Since we have LT trigger selecting the number 2 selector while held, we can add even more functions on the controller. You'll notice at the bottom right hand corner of Xpadder, you have numbers listed 1 through 8. ![]() To do this, in Xpadder right click on the Left Trigger button, go to "Set Selector", then "Selects Set 2", and then choose "While Held". The second picture shows my button set ups for when LT is HELD (that's why it's blue). I also added in text for the Xbox buttons to make it easier to understand. Note on the first picture, I have my bumpers switched compared to what is default. Lone Assassin, feel free to stick the link in your post or copy and paste this if you want. Well, I figured out how to get the map working and I made some pictures if anyone is confused.
